New Contract Highlights
For The Union

- 5 year deal with wage increases of 3%, 3%, 3%, 2.5% and 4%
- departments for overtime listed in contract
- Airport standby rates increased to equal those of Public Works standby rates
- 2 extra days holidays per year for employees with 25 or more years of service
- 2 extra days sick leave per year for full time members
- sick bank allotment increased to 16 days plus current years allotment
- entitlement to use sick time for out of town medical appointments twice per year
- entitlement to use up to 3 sick days per year as family illness days
- increase members allowed to go to Union Conventions or schools from 3 to 5
- more clarification in bereavement leave clause
- dental plan to include 100% coverage for braces to a max. $5000.
- eye exams to be covered up to $100. per 24 month period
- chiropractor and or message therapy to a combined total of $500.
- Blue net card for prescriptions 80 % coverage
- long term disability increased to a max. $2500. per month
- in lieu of benefits increased form .85 to $1.
- medical travel plan implemented
- work boot allowance increased by $25.
- jointly funded family wellness plan initiated
- ei rebates to continue to be issued in bank time for employees
- joint benefits committee to be established

For The City

- increased term from 3 to 5 years
- flexible shifting for any new winter maintenance posting after June 8, 2005
- new seasonal employees hired after June 8, 2005 will receive benefits only             while employed by the City
- more clarification in bereavement leave clause

- weekly indemnity waiting period increased from 3 days to 4 days
